All About Autumn Decor
There are many ways to spruce up your holiday decor but for some reason dressing up the table feels the most “homey”. I can’t really pinpoint why – especially because we barely use our table now with the little kiddo running around. Nonetheless, dressing up the table with handmade goodies has always made me smile. This is a simple Autumn pattern that can take you all the way through Thanksgiving. It’s also a pretty adaptable pattern where you can modify to make a throw (by adding more panels) or skinny it down to make a scarf (single panel!), couch pillow… endless choices. This is a 7 row repeat so grab your crochet hook and your remote, we can get this one done on auto-pilot!

Pattern Notes:
This pattern is worked up in long panels and single crocheted together. Depending on the yarn you use, blocking may be required. This pattern can also be widened by a multiple of 23+8 for each repeat of the width. I will mark the pattern as such.
To modify the pattern to make other items consider the following:
- Scarf: only make one panel
- Afghan: work up multiple panels in various colours and sc together
- Placemat: shorten the length of the panels to your desired width
Materials:
- 5.0mm Crochet Hook
- Tapestry needle
- Red Heart Super Saver Yarn in the following colours:
- Gold
- Carrot
- Burgundy
- Coffee (for edging)
Gauge:
4” x 4” (10 cm x 10 cm) 12 sc and 15 rows with a 5.0 mm crochet hook
Abbreviations:
SC: Single crochet
DC: Double crochet
YO: Yarn over
DC2TOG / DC DEC: DC two sts together, dc decrease
GUIDE: (Yo, insert hook, yo, draw loop through, yo, draw through 2 loops on hook) in next 2 sts, yo, draw through all loops on hook.
DC INC: DC increase,
GUIDE: 2 dc in next st
Ch: Chain
Sts : Stitches
Measurements:
Each panel is approx. 5in wide using the same yarn/hook as below. The length is up to you but I will suggest standard sizing depending on your project.
If you are adjusting the yarn & hook, make sure you work a test patch to see how your gauge is working out and then adjust.
Below are standard sizes as you consider adjusting the pattern:
Table runner:
3 panels wide (15in), length approx. 80in
Scarf:

Chain 31 [or a multiple of 23+8 if adjusting the panel width]
Row 1: Dc in the 8th chain from the hook, [dc in the next 8 chains. Ch 2, skip the next 2 chains. 3 dc in the next chain. Ch 2, skip the next 2 chains. dc2tog, 3 dc, dc2tog. Ch 2, skip the next 2 chains, dc.] Turn.
Row 2: Chain 5 [Skip 2 stitches. Dc2tog, 1 dc, dc2tog. Ch 2, skip 2 stitches. Dc inc, 1 dc, dc inc. Ch 2, skip 2 stitches. Dc2tog, 5 dc, dc2tog. Ch 2], skip 2 stitches, dc. Turn.
Row 3: Chain 5 [Skip 2 stitches. Dc2tog, 3 dc, dc2tog. Ch 2, 3 dc into ch2 space, ch 2. Dc inc, 3 dc, dc inc. Ch 2, skip 2 stitches, dc3tog. Ch 2], skip 2 stitches, dc. Turn.
Row 4: Chain 5 [Skip 5 stitches. Dc inc, 5 dc, dc inc. Ch 2, skip 2 stitches. Dc inc, 1 dc, dc inc. Ch 2, skip 2 stitches. Dc2tog, dc, dc2tog. Ch 2], skip 2 stitches, dc. Turn.
Row 5: Chain 5 [Skip 2 stitches. Dc3tog. Ch 2, skip 2 stitches. Dc inc, 3 dc, dc inc. Ch 2, skip 2 stitches. 1 dc in each of the next 9 stitches. Ch 2], skip 2 stitches, dc. Turn.
Row 6: Chain 5. Skip 2 stitches. [Dc2tog, 5 dc, dc2tog. Ch 2, skip 2 stitches. Dc inc, 5 dc, Dc inc. Ch 2, skip 5 stitches], dc. Turn.
Row 7: Chain 5 [Skip 2 stitches. 1 dc in each of the next 9 stitches. Ch 2, 3 dc in ch2 space, ch 2. Dc2tog, 3 dc, dc2tog. Ch 2], skip 2 stitches, dc. Turn.
Repeat rows 2-7 until you have achieved desired length.

Assembly:
Table Runner: Line up panels, side by side. With contrast colour, sc both edges together – 3 sc in each dc space to end. Weave in ends and enjoy!
Scarf: If single panel, weave in ends and enjoy! If multiple panel – Line up panels, side by side. With contrast colour, sc both edges together – 3 sc in each dc space to end. Weave in ends and enjoy!
Throw/Afghan: Line up panels, side by side. With contrast colour, sc both edges together – 3 sc in each dc space to end. Weave in ends and enjoy!
Pillow Sham: Make 2 sides: Line up panels, side by side. With contrast colour, sc both edges together – 3 sc in each dc space to end. Overlay the two pillow sides and sc around the entire perimeter of the pillow. Before closing the final size, insert pillow then proceed to sc to end. Weave in ends and enjoy!
