This is a simple pumpkin method that really delivers an elegant, farmhouse feel. You will work up 3 different rectangle sizes, and the assembly brings the pumpkins to life. If you can crochet a rectangle, you can make these pumpkins!

Measurements:
This pattern is written in 3 sizes: approx. pumpkin size:
Small: 4in wide, 3in tall
Medium: 6in wide, 3.5in tall
Large: 8in wide, 4in tall
Modifications: You can increase the size of the pumpkin by adding 10 sts to chain and + 3 into length of work.
Materials:
- #4 Medium yarn in various farmhouse colours: I used
- Red Heart Super Saver Light Periwinkle (MC): .5 ball (198 g/7 oz, 333 meters/364 yards) of Soft White (small), Gold (Medium), Buff (Large), Sage (for curly vines)
- 5.0 mm (U.S. H/8) crochet hook
- Tapestry needle
- Polyfil stuffing
- 3 cinnamon sticks

Gauge:
- 4″ x 4″ (10 cm x 10 cm) 11 sc and 13 rows with a 5.0 mm (U.S. H/8) crochet hook
Abbreviations:
Puff St: Yarn over, insert the hook in specified stitch, yarn over again and draw a loop through (three loops on hook). Repeat two more times, inserting the hook into the same stitch (seven loops on the hook); yarn over and pull yarn through all seven loops on the hook.

Small: makes 6x9in rectangle
To begin, ch 22:
Row 1: HDC in 2nd ch from hook to end, ch 2, turn (21 sts throughout)
Row 2: HDC in BLO in each st to end, ch 2, turn
Row 3: HDC in BLO in each st to end, ch 2, turn
Row 4: IN BLO: *HDC, Puff st* repeat within ** to end, HDC in last st, ch 2 turn:
Row 5-7: as row 3
Row 8: as row 4
Repeat rows 5-8 until length measures 12 in, making sure to end on a puff stitch row.
Bind off leaving at least 18in tail for assembly.

To begin, ch 32:
Row 1: HDC in 2nd ch from hook to end, ch 2, turn (31 sts throughout)
Row 2: HDC in BLO in each st to end, ch 2, turn
Row 3: HDC in BLO in each st to end, ch 2, turn

Curly Vine:
Small length: ch 16, 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch to end. Bind off, leaving a 6in tail to attach to the pumpkin.
Medium: ch 21, 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch to end. Bind off, leaving a 6in tail to attach to the pumpkin.
Large: ch 26, 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch to end. Bind off, leaving a 6in tail to attach to the pumpkin.
Assembly: bring your pumpkins to life!
Step 1: begin with your completed rectangle:
Step 2: Sew sides together through back loops only, this will create the additional rib and seamless look:
Step 3: Weave along bottom edge and synch closed. Bind off tightly:
Step 4: Stuff with Polyfil:
Step 5: Sew closed:
Step 6: Shape the pumpkin! With a long piece of yarn, attach to tapestry needle and pull through the center of the pumpkin, wrap around the side of the pumpkin and add tension to create a pucker/crease in the pumpkin. Repeat 4 more times.
Step 7: Add accessories! I added some curly vines and cinnamon sticks to mine.
