To block or not to block. That is always the question.
If I’m being honest, I’m torn on when to block vs. when to pull out my iron and give it a quick press. There are some projects where blocking is a must – either the material cannot stand up to heat or the press would lose the detail. This is how I go through the process that has worked for me. There are a few methods out there so take from this what works for you! Comment and let me know what you think.
Here is what you need to get started:
- Your WIP!
- Gentle soap – look out for soap specific for fibre arts such as quilting, needlepoint, crochet, knitting. I like Orvus WA Quilt Soap but you should be able to find something similar at your local craft store.
- Luke warm water
- Blocking Mat / foam mats & Pins. I like these but any mat you can pin WIPs to without any transfer of colours
