Here is a fun and squishy project for that kiddo in your life! Bernat Blanket Yarn brings this fun play mat to life. Do you C2C? No? We’re going to break it down for you! With Blanket Yarn and a large gauge hook, this one works up in a flash. I finished it over 4 nights, promise!
Pattern Notes:
This is a simple C2C pattern with 4 colour changes. Swapping colours can be a bit confusing and it is easy to (literally) get tangled up in it so definitely take the time to make bobbins! I thought I could avoid that step and I got myself into a real mess pretty quickly! Take a look at the progress pictures below if you don’t believe me! Make the bobbins!
When referring to chart, start at the bottom left corner of the grid.
Change colours and incorporate bobbins as needed. To change colours cleanly, work to last 2 loops on hook, yoh with new color. Pull through 2 loops on hook to complete st and proceed in new color.

2nd row: Ch 6. 1 dc in 4th ch from hook. 1 dc in each of next 2 ch – beg block made. (Sl st. Ch 3. 3 dc) in next ch-3 sp – block made. Turn. 2 blocks. Change to Yellow.
3rd row: Beg block. (Block in next ch-3 sp) twice. Turn. 3 blocks.
4th -28th Row: Beg block. (Block in next ch-3 sp) 3 times. Turn. 4 blocks. 5th row: Beg block. (Block in next ch-3 sp) 4 times. Turn. 5 blocks.
Continue in this pattern, inc 1 block each row until there are 28 blocks, keeping in mind the color changes along the way.
Rows 29-33: Begin to decrease along the top of the work while continuing to extend along the bottom
To decrease: Sl st in each of first 3 dc. *Block in next ch-3 sp. Rep from * to last ch-3 sp. (Do not make a block). Turn.
Keeping cont of chart, rep last row until 1 block rem. Fasten off.
Enjoy!
