I promise you that this is the easiest hat you will ever make. Here we go!

Materials:

  • U.S. size 3.50mm hook
  • 1 Skein Fine Weight Baby Yarn – I used this one
  • Measuring tape
  • Tapestry needle
  • Scissors
  • You can find all of these goodies at partners…
JOANN Stores

Sizing:

Unstretched & before brim is folded up 10″wide x 15″long

Abbreviations:

ch= chain

sts= stitches

BLO = back loop only

HDC: Half double crochet

Pattern Notes:

This pattern creates a simple ribbed rectangle that we will then sew together to shape into a beanie. You can adjust the sizing of the had by increasing/decreasing the initial ch to aline with the sizing dimensions below.

We’ve written the pattern to fit to Child – Teen/Small Adult. The ribbing allows for the sizing to flex fairly easily between sizing.

Pattern:

Ch 51

row 1. HDC in 2nd ch from hook across, ch 1, turn (50 hdc)

row 2. HDC in (BLO) in each hdc across, ch 1, turn (50 hdc)

Repeat row 2 until length, laid flat (no not stretch) measures 15in.

Almost there!

Assembly:

Step 1: Fold the rectangle in half, sew along both edges to form a tube.

Step 2: Weave yarn through the very top edge. Pull tight to close up the top of the hat.

Step 3. Fold up brim of the hat.

Here’s a quick video that walks you through it!
