Festival of Lights Garland – Free Crochet Pattern
I’m so excited to share my newest project with you – Festival of Lights Garland! Our family is non-traditional and celebrates both Hanukkah and Christmas. This year I was so inspired to up our holiday decor game and incorporate a wider range of festive treats. Hanukah is from December 10-18 and I’m going to tuck little gifts in each one of these. What do you think? Comment below to let me know!
Pattern Notes:
Each pocket is worked in rounds starting from the bottom to the top of the pouch.
Reading the Number Graph: The number graph will show you when to swap colours to create the desired pattern. It is important to note that you start at the bottom of the number and work your way up to the top.
Changing colours: Work the last st before the the pattern changes colour to the last 2 loops on the hook. Draw loop of next colour through 2 loops on hook to complete the stitch. Continue working colours according to the number graph remembering to swap new color when you are on the last sts with 2 loops remaining on the hook.

Adding the Ties:
Create ties for each of the pouches. These will be the tie used to attach to the garland and to close the pouch. The curl will hold the pouch closed tight with a single knot.
To start: With blue ch 20, attach to each pouch with a slst on the left side of the pouch approx 5 rows from the top, ch 21, turn.
Row 1: 2sc in each st across. Bind off. Weave in ends.
Garland:
To Start: With Blue, ch 250, Bind off.
Row 1: With White, starting at the beginning of the ch, sc across, bind off.
Row 2: With Blue, starting at the beginning of the work, sc across, bind off.
Tassels:
Make tassels using 1 strand of each colour. I used a small box (approx 6in wide) and wrapped the yarn around until there was about 1in in yarn pile. I then gently pull the yarn off the box and tied off both ends approx 1 in from either end. I then cut down the middle to split the tassels into two.
Enjoy!
