This easy crochet snowflake pattern is one of those magical handmade Christmas projects that finishes in just minutes — delicate, cozy, and perfect for the holiday season. ❄️✨ Made with bulky yarn and a single round of simple stitches, you’ll have a whole flurry of snowflakes ready to hang on your tree, string into garlands, or scatter across your holiday table.

Skill Level
Easy. If you can make a magic circle and work basic crochet stitches, you can crochet this snowflake.
Materials
- Bernat Maker yarn in Cream (or any color you love — white, silver, or pastel work beautifully). #5 Bulky weight, 72% cotton / 28% nylon, 290 m / 250 g.
- 8.0 mm (US L/11) crochet hook — find here
- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
- Scissors
- Optional: Fabric stiffener or sugar-water mix for a crystalline finish
You can substitute any yarn weight — try DK or worsted weight for smaller, more delicate snowflakes, or super bulky for oversized statement snowflakes. Adjust your hook size accordingly. Cotton or cotton-blend yarns block beautifully and give the cleanest snowflake shape.

Abbreviations
- Ch — chain
- Sc — single crochet
- Sl st — slip stitch
Easy Crochet Snowflake Pattern Instructions
Begin with a magic circle. The entire snowflake is worked in one round — six identical arms attached to the central magic circle.
Snowflake Arm (Repeat 6 Times)
- Step 1: Ch 4, sl st in 2nd ch from hook.
- Step 2: Ch 3, sl st in 3rd ch from hook.
- Step 3: Ch 2, sl st in 2nd ch from hook.
- Step 4: Sl st back down through the 2 remaining chains from the first ch-4.
- Step 5: Work 1 sc into the magic circle to anchor the point.
You should now have one “snowflake arm” consisting of 3 picot-like chain extensions.
Finishing
After all 6 arms are complete, sl st back into the very first ch made, pull the magic circle closed tightly, fasten off, and weave in ends.
For best results, lightly steam-block your finished snowflake or stiffen with fabric stiffener for a crisp, polished shape that holds its form.

Tips for Success
A few notes from making lots of these crochet snowflakes: keep your tension consistent across all 6 arms — even slight differences will show in a small finished piece. Don’t pull your slip stitches too tight, especially when working back down the chain extensions. For the cleanest snowflake shape, give your finished piece a quick steam block or a stiffening soak before hanging. And if you’re making a whole batch, try varying the yarn colors slightly — pure white, cream, silver, and pale blue all look beautiful together as a coordinated snowflake collection.
