Easy Peasy Chunky Knit Throw – Free Knit Pattern
Here is a great project for the long weekend! This is an actual photo of my work from home setup. Alternating #Knit and #Purl stitches alone get this one done in no time! Best part… this yarn and needles are all currently on sale at JoAnn. Don’t worry, I have it all detailed below. So, grab 5 balls of Bernat Blanket Extra and 12.75mm circular needles and let’s get going!
Pattern Notes:
This is a simple 2 row repeat. You can +/- the width of the blanket in multiples of 10 sts. Here is a listing of common sizing:
Measurements:
Approx. 55″ x 60″
Gauge:
4” x 4” (10 cm x 10 cm) 5 sts x 7 rows with 12.75 mm knitting needle
Materials:
- 3 Balls of Main Colour Bernat Blanket Extra Yarn (I used Vintage White)
- 2 Balls of Contrast Colour Bernat Blanket Extra Yarn (I used Smokey Green)
- 29in #17/12.75mm Circular Knitting Needle
- Tapestry Needle (to weave in ends)
Abbreviations:
Sts: Stitches
K: Knit
P: Purl
Rep: Repeat
Pattern:
With MC, cast on 75 sts.
Row 1: *K5, P5* Repeat within ** to last 5 sts, K5
Row 2: *P5, K5* Repeat within ** to last 5 sts, P5
Repeat Row 1 & 2 until work reaches desired length (see chart above). Change colours every 12in. If you are making the 55x60in throw, you can change colours after each ball of yarn comes to an end (even if in the middle of the row – that’s what I did!).
Weave in ends and enjoy!
