Pattern Notes:

This pattern uses a circular needle but worked back and forth across the needle (you will not join).

Skill Level:

Easy: Basic stitches, minimal shaping and simple finishing. 

Measurements:

Approximately 47 x 47in 

Materials:

• Main Color: 2 Balls of 14oz/400g, 431 yds, #6 Super Bulky Yarn
  • I used Bernat Softee Chunky in Natural
• Contrast Colour: 1 Ball of 14oz/400g, 431 yds, #6 Super Bulky Yarn
  • I used Bernat Softee Chunky in Faded Denim

• If you are using a solid colour then you’ll need 3 balls in total
• Size 8.0mm (US 11) circular knitting needle with 29-36 in cord
• Tapestry needle
• Scissors 

Gauge: 

Knitting Gauge: 11 sts and 14 rows with an 8 mm (U.S. 11) knitting needle

Abbreviations: 

MC: Main colour

Sts: Stitches

K: Knit

P: Purl

Slst: Slip stitch

K2tog: Knit 2 together

PSSO: Pass slipped stich over

M: Make stitch

Pattern:

With MC: Cast on 151 sts. 

Working back and forth on needle (do not join), work as follows:

Row 1: K3, P to last 3 sts, K3

Row 2: K3, K1, *M1, K10, Slst, K2tog, PSSO, K10, M1, K1*, repeat within ** to last 3 sts, k3. 

TIP: This is where the M1 should be created.

Row 3: As Row 1

Row 4: As Row 2

Row 5: As Row 1

Row 6: As Row 2

Row 7: K3, Purl to last 3 sts, K3

Repeat last 7 rows of chevron pattern, changing colours every 35 rows (5 blocks of 7 rows), until work measures desired length. Bind off, weave in ends.

If you are working the pattern as pictured, repeat Rows 1-7 five times in total – you’ll end up with 3 MC stripes and 2 Contrast Colours. 

Finishing:

Block work. It makes a big difference in this project!

Make Tassels/ Fringe:

To create tassels, cut desired colour yarn in 16 in lengths. You will need 5 strands for each tassel.
