Welcome to the individual patterns for each of the Lil Monsters! This pattern covers the 4th pattern in the series – the Lil Kitty Cat! Enjoy!
Here is the entire Lil Monster Pumpkin Patch!
Pattern Notes:
This pattern is written for BOTH knit and crochet! Photos were taken for one or the other but the modifications for each will be included in each costume pattern.
First, let’s gather all the materials you’re going to need!
If you’re in the US, head to Joann! You’ll find everything you need there.
Materials:
- Crochet Hook: 6.0mm
- Knitting Needles: 6.00mm
- Tapestry needle
- Polyfill stuffing
- Floral Wire
- Googly Eyes (7 sets) – AKA Wobbly Eyes in 25mm
- Red Heart Super Saver in the following colours:
- Pumpkin
- Orchid
- Black
- Spring Green
- Cherry Red
- Amethyst
- Coffee
Gauge:
Crochet: 12SC and 14 rows = 4in
Knit: 17sts and 23 rows = 4in
Abbreviations:
Crochet:
SC: Single crochet
DC: Double crochet
Ch: Chain
Sts : Stitches
Slst : Slip Stitch
Rnd: Round
Knit:
K: knit
K2tog : knit 2 together

Now let’s move on to making the universal pumpkin base!

COSTUMES:
This pattern is written in Crochet for the Frankenstein costume!
Pattern:
Yarn: Pumpkin
Pumpkin base modification: Pumpkin stump in Coffee
Stump: with Coffee, ch 4, join to first ch with a slst. Loop created.
Round 1: 6 SC within the loop created
Rnd 2: SC in back sts only (creating a ridge)
Rnd 3-7: SC around.
Bind off and attach to the top of the pumpkin.
Accessories:
Ears (make 2):
Knit:
With Black: Cast on 9 sts:
Row 1: Knit
Row 2: k2tog, knit to end
Repeat Row 2 until there is 2 sts left. K2tog.
Bind off.
Inner ear:
With Orchid: Cast on 7 sts:
Row 1: Knit
Row 2: 2ktogether, knit to end.
Repeat Row 2 until there is 2 sts left. K2tog.
Bind off.
Crochet:
Ears:
With Black: Ch 9
Row 1: SC to end, ch 1, turn
Row 2: SC2tog, SC to end, ch 1 turn
Repeat Row 2 until there is 2 sts left. SC2tog.
Bind off.
Inner Ear:
With Orchid: Ch 7
Row 1: SC to end, ch 1, turn
Row 2: SC2tog, SC to end, ch 1 turn
Repeat Row 2 until there is 2 sts left. SC2tog.
Bind off.
Assembly:
Attach the stump in the centre of the pumpkin.
Attach the inner ear to the inside of the Black ear. Sew the ears to the pumpkin on either side of the stump.
Face Stitches: embroider similar to the photo below.
