Happy Halloween!

Welcome to the individual patterns for each of the Lil Monsters! This is a bonus pattern that we created at the last minute – the Lil Bumble Bee! This one is pictured and written for Crochet but the Knit version is on the way. Enjoy!

Lil Monsters Pumpkin Patch

Pattern Notes:

This pattern is written for BOTH knit and crochet! Photos were taken for one or the other but the modifications for each will be included in each costume pattern. 

First, let’s gather all the materials you’re going to need!

Materials:

  • Crochet Hook: 6.0mm
  • Knitting Needles: 6.00mm
  • Tapestry needle
  • Polyfill stuffing

  • Googly Eyes (7 sets) – AKA Wobbly Eyes in 25mm

Gauge: 

Crochet: 12SC and 14 rows = 4in 

Knit: 17sts and 23 rows = 4in

Abbreviations: 

Crochet: 

SC: Single crochet

DC: Double crochet

Ch: Chain

Sts : Stitches

Slst : Slip Stitch

Rnd: Round

Knit: 

K: knit

K2tog : knit 2 together

PATTERNS:

Pumpkins:

Now let’s move on to making the universal pumpkin base!

This is a High-Level Summary but you can find the ENTIRE PATTERN and step-by-step instructions here!

COSTUMES:

This pattern covers the Bumble Bee costume. Other than the lil Antennae, the colour combo carries its own personality the rest of the way!

Pattern:

Yarn: Black, Bright Yellow

Pumpkin base modification: Begin with yellow and work 2 rows then swap to black. Change between the two colours every 2 rows ending with yellow at row 18. Work remaining rows with black.. Please make pumpkin base and stump!

Accessories: Antennae (make 2)

With yellow, ch 3, join with a slst to first ch to make a loop. 

Rnd 1: Chain 1, 6 sc within loop. Continue working in rounds.

Rnd 2: 2 SC in each st around (12 SC)

Rnd 3: 2 SC in each stitch around (12 SC)

Rnd 4: SC2tog over the next two sc, repeat around (6 SC)

Rnd 5: Sc in each st around (6 SC)

At this point you want to stuff the “ball” with poly-fil. Change to blackRnd 6-12: SC in each stitch around (6 SC)

Assembly

Attach the googly eyes with the glue gun first. Sew antennae evenly spaced in line with the eyes and on either side of the pumpkin stump.
