How-To: Crochet an Oak Leaf (a Follow-Along Tutorial)
Grab your crochet hook and the free pattern for the Crochet Oak Leaf and let’s get started! This is a Follow-Along tutorial to get you working up these fun pops of Autumn colour.
Here is what we need to get started…
Materials:
- RedHeart SuperSaver Yarn in various colors (I used pumpkin, carrot, gold, burgundy, and brown)
- Size J/10-6.00MM
- Scissors
- Yarn needle
Got them? Great! Now let’s get going…
Part 1: Row 1
Row 1: Ch11, sc in 2nd ch from hook, 2hdc in next ch, hdc next 6 ch, 2hdc in next ch, [sc, hdc, dc, hdc, sc] in last ch; working around other side of beg ch, 2hdc in next ch, hdc next 6 ch, 2hdc in next ch, sc in last ch. Do not join. (27 sts)
Part 2: Row 2
Row 2: Ch1, turn, 2sc in first 2 sts, hdc 9 sts, 2sc in next st, sc next st, [sc, hdc, sc] in next st, sc next st, 2sc in next st, hdc 9 sts, 2sc in last two sts. Working across bottom of leaf, [sc, dc, sc] in center ch, join with a slst. (38 sts)
Part 3: Row 3
Row 3: *sl st in same st that you joined from Row 2, sc next st, [hdc, dc, hdc] in next st, sc next st, sl st next st*, repeat between * twice, slst, sc, [hdc, dc, tr, dc, hdc] in next st; sc, slst next st, repeat between * 3 times. Do not join.
Final Step – Add the Stem!
Stem: Sl st next st, ch10, sl st in 2nd ch from hook and each remaining ch back
