Measurements:

Each piece is approx. 4in tall. 

Materials:

  • 1 Ball 120 g / 4.2 oz, 254 meters / 232 yards of #3 Medium yarn of each – this will make approx. 4 cookies, double if making the entire set.
    • Cookie: Light brown
    • Icing: white/off-white
    • As photographed – Bernat Softee Baby Cotton in Sand (cookie) and Cotton (frosting)
  • Size 4.0 mm (U.S. G/6) 
  • Tapestry needle

Gauge:

  • Crochet Gauge: 16 sc and 20 rows with a 4.0 mm (U.S. G/6) crochet hook

Cookie: make 2

With light brown:

To start, ch 3, join with slst to first ch to create a loop, 

Rnd 1: ch 3, dc within loop, ch 2, *2 dc, ch 2 within loop* repeat within ** 4 more times, join with a slst to the top of starting ch 3

Rnd 2: slst in dc from prior rnd, slst within ch-2 sp, ch3, (dc, ch 2, 2dc) in same ch 2 sp, work (2 dc, ch 2, 2dc) all within ch-2 sp, repeat around, join with a slst to beginning ch 3

Rnd 3: slst in dc from prior rnd, slst within ch-2 sp, ch3, work 2 dc within same ch-2 sp, ch 3, slst between clusters from prior rnd (see photo below), *ch 3, work 3 dc in ch-2 sp, slst between clusters from prior rnd*, repeat within to end, join with a slst to top of beginning st. 

FIRST COOKIE: bind off here. 

FOR SECOND COOKIE ONLY: slst in prior rnd’s dcs until you return to first ch-3 sp, begin edging on 2nd cookie.

Edging/Joining combined: place both cookies on top of each other with right sides facing outward. Working through both cookies, 3 sc within ch-3 sp, *slst in slst from prior rnd, 3 sc in ch-3 sp, over the 3 dc cluster from prior rnd, work (hdc in first dc, [dc, ch 3, slst to first ch, dc] all within 2nd dc, hdc in 3rd dc), 3 sc in ch-3 sp*, repeat within ** to final dc cluster (this is where slst were placed at the beginning of round), work (hdc in first dc, [dc, ch 3, slst to first ch, dc] all within first slst, hdc in 2nd slst). Bind off.

Frosting: make 1

With White:

To start, ch 3, join with slst to first ch to create a loop,

Rnd 1: ch 3, dc within loop, ch 2, *2 dc, ch 2 within loop* repeat within ** 4 more times, join with a slst to the top of starting ch 3

Rnd 2: slst in dc from prior rnd, slst within ch-2 sp, ch3, (dc, ch 2, 2dc) in same ch 2 sp, work (2 dc, ch 2, 2dc) all within ch-2 sp, repeat around, join with a slst to beginning ch 3

Rnd 3: slst in dc, *work (sc, hdc, ch 3, slst to 1st ch, hdc, sc) all within ch-2 sp, ch 2, slst between clusters from piror rnd (as you did in the cookie), ch 2*, repeat within ** slst between final dc cluster. 

Bind off, leaving a long tail to attach to cookie.

Assembly:

Center frosting on the cookie, you should be able to see an even border of the cookie all the way around the frosting. Sew frosting to cookie with tapestry needle. 

Bind off, weave in all ends and ENJOY!
