Crochet Christmas Stocking Pattern — Free Elf-ie Seed Stitch Stocking
This crochet christmas stocking pattern — the Elf-ie Stocking — is the third in my free 3-pattern Christmas Stocking Series, inspired by elves and their cheerfully bright wardrobe. 🧝♀️ The classic red-white-and-green color story plus seed stitch texture make this a quick weekend project that works beautifully on a mantel or as a personalized gift for a little one.
Worked from the toe up to the cuff, the seed stitch alternates single and double crochet for that gorgeous textured fabric. The 3-pattern series gives you matching options for every kid in the house — see below for the other two stocking patterns!

Why you’ll love this crochet christmas stocking pattern
- Beginner-friendly — uses single crochet, double crochet, and basic post stitches for the cuff
- Quick weekend project — finishes in 1-2 days with worsted weight yarn
- Classic Christmas colors — Cherry Red, White, and Spring Green for that traditional holiday feel
- Customizable — swap colors easily for personalized stockings (every kid gets their own color story!)
- Heirloom-quality — handmade stockings get pulled out year after year
- Part of a coordinated series — make all 3 patterns for matching family stockings
