Christmas Sugar Cookie STAR Ornament – Free Crochet Pattern

Materials:
- 1 Ball 120 g / 4.2 oz, 254 meters / 232 yards of #3 Medium yarn of each – this will make approx. 4 cookies, double if making the entire set.
- Cookie: Light brown
- Icing: white/off-white
- As photographed – Bernat Softee Baby Cotton in Sand (cookie) and Cotton (frosting)
- Size 4.0 mm (U.S. G/6)
- Tapestry needle

- Crochet Gauge: 16 sc and 20 rows with a 4.0 mm (U.S. G/6) crochet hook

Cookie: make 2
With light brown:
To start, ch 3, join with slst to first ch to create a loop.
Round 1: work all within loop, ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2 *3 dc, ch 2* repeat within ** 3 more times, join with a slst to top of 3rd ch from start of round. You will have 5 dc & ch-2 clusters.
Round 2: *(3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) all within next ch-2 sp, hdc in 2nd dc cluster from rnd 1*, repeat within ** 3 more times, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) all within next ch-2 sp, join with a slst final st from prior rnd
Round 3: *(2 tr, 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc, 2 tr) all within next ch-2 sp, sl st in hdc from prior round* repeat within ** 4 more times.
Bind off.

Edging & joining combined: place stars on top of each other with right side facing outwards (wrong sides should be touching), join with a slst through back loops only at any slst from last round. *Sc in each st through BLO through both stars, 3 sc within ch-2 sp, slst in BLO in slst from prior round* repeat within ** to end. Bind off.
Frosting:
With White:
To start, ch 3, join with slst to first ch to create a loop.
Round 1: work all within loop, ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2 *3 dc, ch 2* repeat within ** 3 more times, join with a slst to top of 3rd ch from start of round. You will have 5 dc & ch-2 clusters.
Round 2: *(3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) all within next ch-2 sp, hdc in 2nd dc cluster from rnd 1*, repeat within ** 3 more times, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) all within next ch-2 sp, join with a slst final st from prior rnd.
Bind off, leaving a long tail to attach to cookie.
Assembly:
Center frosting on the cookie, you should be able to see an even border of the cookie all the way around the frosting. Sew frosting to cookie with tapestry needle.
Bind off, weave in all ends and ENJOY!
