Pattern Notes:

This Snowflake is worked in 4 rounds, each building on the last round. We will use beginner stitches (sc & dc) but the placement and spaces are what make this look a lot more complicated than it actually is. We have taken photos at every step to help you along! Depending on the yarn you’ve chosen, you may need to block your work to get crisp snowflake edges. We have tips on this also!

Measurements:

Each Snowflake is approx. 4.5in tall.

Materials:

  • Main Colour: 4 7oz Balls of #4 Medium Weight: I used Red Heart Metallics in White
  • 5.5mm crochet hook
  • Tapestry needle

Gauge:

4” x 4” (10 cm x 10 cm) 12 sc and 15 rows with a 5.5 mm (U.S I-9) crochet hook

Abbreviations:

Ch: Chain

Sc: Single Crochet

SlSt: Slip Stitch

Dc: Double Crochet

St: Stitch

Sp: space

Pattern:

To begin, ch 5, join with a slst to first ch, loop created. 

Rnd 1: ch 1, sc 12 times into loop, join with slst to first sc.

Rnd 2: ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in same st, ch 3, skip st, (2 dcs in next st, ch 3, skip st) 5 times, join last ch 3 into 3rd ch of first ch 3/starting dc.

Rnd 3: ch 1, sc in next dc, (2 sc, ch 5, 2 sc) in ch3 space, *sc in next two dcs, (2 sc, ch 5, 2 sc) in ch 3 space* five times, join with sl st in ch1 at start of round.

Rnd 4: *ch 3, sc in next sc, ch 2, skip 2 scs, (sc, 3 ch, sc, ch 5, sc, 3 ch, sc) in ch 5 space, ch 2, skip 2 scs, sc in sc* five times, *ch 3, sc in next sc, ch 2, skip 2 scs, (sc, 3 ch, sc, ch 5, sc, 3 ch, sc) in ch 5 space, ch 2, sl st into sl st on previous round. Bind off, weave in ends, block (if needed).
