Welcome to the details behind my current favourite stitch. The waffle stitch is a soft, squishy pattern that adds loads of texture to projects. You’ll see this used in blankets or kitchen dishcloths. It is a simple 2 row repeat but it is the front post double crochet that bring this pattern to life. Take a look and try it out yourself!

Abbreviations

ch: chain

st(s): stitch(es)

dc: double crochet

fpdc: front post double crochet

Pattern:

Ch multiple of 3+2

Row 1: dc in 4th ch from hook and in each st across, turn.

Row 2: Ch 2, turn *dc into the first stitch, dc in next stitch, fpdc in next stitch*, repeat from * to * across row until last stitch

Row 3: Ch 2, turn *fpdc into the first stitch, fpdc in next stitch, dc in next stitch*, repeat from * to * across row until last stitch

Repeat rows 2 & 3 to desired length!
